Presented a video about human rights at the ‘International Day for Tolerance'

November 16 is the International Day for Tolerance appointed by the United Nations. In 1995 which was the 50th anniversary of the end of World War II and the 50th anniversary of UNESCO, the International Day for Tolerance was appointed at the 28th UNESCO General Assembly in order to respect, accept, and understand each other, regardless of gender, race, ethnicity , religion, and physical disability to open the path of peace and coexistence.

The year of 2018 is the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. On the 2018 International Day of Tolerance, the United Nations held a special educational event for students in partnership with YouTube in order to promote the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. It is the event called “Creators for Change” held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, U.S., in which 750 people participated. Students ranging from 15 to 24 years old throughout the world sent in their video projects. Among those videos, the best four videos were selected, and the video of a university student from the Intl. WeLoveU Foundation was one of those four, and 30 students from the Foundation were invited by the United Nations to participate in the event.

The event started from 11 a.m. and lasted for two hours, being attended by the United Nations Department of Public Information [UN DPI], the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights [UN OHCHR], YouTube officials, filmmakers, and students. After the opening ceremony, the short films about international difficulties, which were created by producers of each country, were screened and a panel discussion on tolerance and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was held. Mia Coleman, President of the WeLoveU Club at the University of Memphis in Tennessee, U.S., presented her video.

The presentation of Ms. Coleman delivered an easy and fun animated video about human rights violations in daily life. Ms. Colman who says, “Because of the lack of awareness of human rights, many people unintentionally violate the rights of others.” introduced the Intl. WeLoveU Foundation which is helping people suffering from human rights violation with a mother’s heart, and emphasized the importance of personal privacy rights and human rights awareness, through which she received applause.
