Renovating a House of a Mother and Her Son
The Intl. WeLoveU Foundation (hereinafter referred to as the “WeLoveU’) came to know a single parent family through the Buk-gu Office in Daegu, Korea. A mother in her fifties, living with her college student son, was unable to financially support her family due to her health issues. The family only relied on each other at the old apartment. It looked like many things were outdated, but they couldn’t afford to repair or renovate any of it.

On December 3, WeLoveU members visited this family. The old windows and walls stained with mold were not enough to keep them warm in winter. WeLoveU carried out the Residential Environment Improvement Project to help them spend a warm winter. Now, let us share the story of WeLoveU having renovated the house.
Speak Out of Your Heart

“When I was cleaning my balcony, the window was blown away because of strong wind. There was nothing I could do. I’ve just lived without a window. However, now it is too cold in winter without a window. There is a lot of mold in my son’s room. I tried to clean it, but it was too much. I’m worried about my son’s health because of that.”
The mother was more concerned about her son than herself. She was worried about the health of her son who studied at his room in a poor condition. WeLoveU members hurried the renovation to alleviate their worries.

“I, too, will look after my neighbors with warmheartedness.”
As the house changed gradually with the members’ hard work, the mother was finally able to smile brightly. After the work, she walked the members out to say bye to them.

WeLoveU Delivers Love
The members were happy to see the family’s house clean and safely renovated.
Wishing the family would be healthy and happy in a cozy home, WeLoveU delivered heartfelt messages:
There are neighbors by your side who always stretch a helping hand to you, so cheer up.
We hope you will feel warm in this cold winter.
From now on, only good things may happen to you. We cheer you on.
WeLoveU’s Residential Environment Improvement Project to take care of households, the smallest unit in community, is in line with the 11th goal of the SDGs, “Sustainable Cities and Communities.” WeLoveU will continue caring about our neighbors and sharing love with them so that no one is left behind.
