Adding a Touch of Love
A middle-aged couple and their two daughters lived in a house in Juwol-dong,
Nam-gu, Gwangju. During heavy rain, the family members were filled with worry.
The aging roof allowed rainwater to seep through, trickling down the ceiling
and walls. When water accumulated behind the wallpaper, they would often
pierce it with needles to let the water out. Despite several repair attempts,
they were only able to apply temporary fixes due to a lack of professional help.

Hearing of their situation with sympathy, members of the Intl. WeLoveU
Foundation (Chairwoman Zahng Gil-jah) in Gwangju stepped in to help.
With the goal of transforming the house into a secure and cozy home,
WeLoveU volunteers worked diligently to improve the family’s living conditions.
Speak Out of Your Heart

“Even if we re-papered the walls, they would get stained soon after it rained. Being an old house, we didn’t know where or how to begin repairs. Our biggest concern was the children’s safety when using electrical appliances. Water running down the walls made us fear the risk of electric shock. I just want my kids to live in a safe, pleasant home.”
The mother expressed her gratitude while worrying about the volunteers
working in the cold weather. Reassuring her that they were glad to help,
the volunteers united their efforts to restore the house to a safe and comfortable condition.
How WeLoveU Worked

One. The roof was carefully sealed and reinforced.
Two. The entrance ceiling was replaced with plywood and a new light fixture was installed.
