Street trees look nice, and they are important for environmental protection and public hygiene as they purify air and regulate the temperature. As the heat island effect worsens due to global warming, street trees are playing a bigger role nowadays.
On Earth Day, April 22, the Intl. WeLoveU Foundation planted trees and took care of them in Kensington, Philadelphia, PA, USA, as a part of the Clean WORLD Movement. About 125 people including workers, housewives, university students, and teenagers, participated in the event, proving the attention of many age groups. The volunteers in gloves made the ground even with brooms and rakes. They carefully planted trees and covered them with fertilizer. Though they had to sweat, they worked joyfully, hoping that the trees would grow quickly and help the city’s environment and citizen’s health.
