Providing grocery gift boxes to 1,400 underprivileged households with the heart of a family

Every Lunar New Year, people share love with their family, greeting the hopeful New Year. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it became even difficult to meet one another, so people unprecedentedly came to spend the national holiday in quietness. As there was no demand for holiday items, the economy froze as well. The Intl. WeLoveU Foundation shared warm love with those who suffer from loneliness and hardships of life in the non-contact era, in celebration of the Lunar New Year with the heart of a family.

The members participated in sharing love with their neighbors in various regions of Korea, including Seoul City and Provinces of Gyeonggi, Gangwon, Chungcheong, Jeolla, and Gyeongsang from February 3 to 8. They donated grocery gift boxes to 62 local municipalities where each branch was established, by visiting the city halls, borough offices, and dong offices. Each gift box was full of precooked food such as mushroom porridge, beef and rice soup, and braised kimchi with pork, and groceries such as canned tuna, sesame oil, and frying powder. The relevant public offices delivered the donated gift boxes to multicultural families, senior citizens living alone, and single-parent families. In this way, the WeLoveU delivered the New Year’s gifts to a total of 1,400 underprivileged families.

Lee Jae-hyeon, the Head of Seo-gu District Office in Incheon, expressed gratitude to the WeLoveU, saying, “You have helped those in need with what they really want, not just financial support,” and promised to deliver the donated grocery gift sets to underprivileged neighbors. Kim Jae-hui, the Head of Bugok-dong Office in Donghae said, “We hope the gifts that contain your warm love will become a seed of new life and hope to our neighbors.” The members wished their small gifts would fill the heart and mind of their neighbors.
