Last July, WeLoveU members in Mozambique visited the Maputo City
Department of Education (Ministry of Education and Human Development).
Due to the lingering effects of civil war and a sharp rise in the cost of living,
families were struggling financially,
and the educational environment for students had worsened.

WeLoveU met with Education Director Armando João Muthemba
to discuss ways to support the students. The director proposed selecting
top-performing students from disadvantaged backgrounds
at Segundo Completa Unidade Primary School and providing them
with school supplies as a way to encourage academic motivation.

WeLoveU carefully considered the needs of the students
and prepared gift sets, including school uniforms, backpacks,
textbooks, and a variety of writing supplies.

On March 29, in the presence of students, teachers, parents, education officials,
and Kamubukuana District representatives, the 20 top-performing students
selected by the Department of Education received their gifts. All attendees
applauded warmly, and the students smiled brightly with pride and joy.

Armindo Huo, Kamubukuana District Administrator

“Previously, WeLoveU built a library at Zedequias Manganhela Secondary School, and now you’ve gifted school supplies to our students. We are truly grateful. The students will make good use of them.”

“I’m very pleased with WeLoveU’s support for our students. I hope this assistance continues to reach other children in need across Maputo. Please convey my gratitude and love to Chairwoman Zahng Gil-jah.”

The students expressed their gratitude by performing for the WeLoveU
members and presenting hand-drawn artwork as heartfelt gifts.

WeLoveU will continue to support education wherever help is needed
so that children can grow their dreams even in the face of adversity.
