WeLoveU makes the elderly feel a genuine comfort and empathy
Golden Reception and Action Center for the Elderly and Other Special Cases [GRACES], located in downtown Quezon City, Philippines, houses 280 elderly people who don’t have any place to stay. Quezon City asked the Intl. WeLoveU Foundation to lend a hand to support the nursing home in need, and to improve the living conditions for the elderly.
On October 26 and 27, the members from the WeLoveU consecutively visited GRACES along with Quezon City officials and made a detailed plan on how to support them. The daily necessities and electronic appliances GRACES had for the elderly were lacking in comparison to what was needed. Since they didn’t have enough rice cookers, they had trouble preparing meals; and they didn’t even have a washing machine, so clothes were hand washed one by one.
Understanding their various difficulties, the WeLoveU members meticulously prepared to provide supporting materials. Afterwards, on November 15, the donation ceremony was held at GRACES. The Leader of Quezon City Chapter of the WeLoveU Choi Jeong-man, officials from the city and public library, in addition to about 100 elderly people from GRACES along with 30 WeLoveU members participated in the ceremony.
The WeLoveU donated two rice cookers, kitchen supplies, a water purifier, a refrigerator, a dryer and two washing machines. They also delivered daily necessities for the elderly and toiletries. The members gave a wonderful choir performance to console their hearts, and elementary school students brought big smiles and happiness to the elderly with their cute dance.
The members delivered their devotion with a genuine heart to the elderly, who were comforted and deeply moved. One of the elderly expressed his gratitude by saying, “You are the best among all the visitors.” The official from Quezon City public library who planned and operated the welfare program for the elderly said, “Their faces were filled with joy, and I hope the WeLoveU Foundation continues to provide a helping hand to the elderly so that they may live the rest of their lives happily.”
On this day, both officials from Quezon City Hall and the public library delivered a plaque of appreciation to the WeLoveU Foundation. As the WeLoveU Foundation carries out diverse welfare activities in the Philippines such as rebuilding schools damaged by typhoons and blood drives, they will continue to conduct voluntary services across generations, so no one is left behind and everyone’s future can be full of happiness.
