In the Philippines, WeLoveU members carefully inspected hygiene supplies
and packed them into portable pouches for students. These hygiene kits
were gifts for children at Macabud Elementary School in Rodriguez City.
Each kit contained practical items, such as soap, hand sanitizer, and
toothbrushes, so students could maintain good hygiene anytime and anywhere.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO) and
UNICEF’s Joint Monitoring Programme (JMP) for Water Supply, Sanitation,
and Hygiene, as of 2024, only 48% of the population in the Philippines
has access to improved drinking water sources.
Soil-transmitted helminth infections are also common
among Filipino children, closely associated with limited sanitation facilities
and inadequate hygiene supplies.
Children who touch soil with bare hands and eat without washing them,
or who consume contaminated water, vegetables, or fruits,
are at a higher risk of infection. For this reason, hygiene education is crucial.
Department of Education implemented the Wash in Schools Policy
(WinS), which promotes regular handwashing in schools.
💝 WeLoveU’s Hygiene Education and Kit Support 💝
On June 26, WeLoveU met with the Department of Education to discuss
students’ hygiene and health challenges and explore practical measures
to create healthier school environments.

Following that meeting, on August 20, WeLoveU conducted
the WeLoveU School Hygiene Training at Macabud Elementary School
and distributed portable hygiene kits to all students.

Approximately 840 students and faculty members participated,
learning about the importance of handwashing
and how to cultivate good hygiene habits.

The students were overjoyed to receive their kits
and pledged to practice proper handwashing every day.
WeLoveU volunteers expressed hope that the education and support provided
would help students enjoy healthier and happier school lives.

With bright smiles, the children proudly declared,
“We’ve got hand hygiene covered!”
May WeLoveU’s continued hygiene education and support
foster lasting healthy habits and bring renewed energy
to students’ school days.
