Having Dreams and Hopes, Reading Books

Most schools in the outskirts of Kathmandu in Nepal are experiencing economic difficulties. Some of them cannot rely only on the support from the government, so they get help from other organizations like NGOs. In November, 2018, the Intl. WeLoveU Foundation came together with the Kathmandu municipal government in order to help all students receive the same education, regardless of their financial situation
Shree Nawa Jagriti Secondary School and Shree Mahalaxmi Adharbhut School, which are the public school located in the outskirts of Kathmandu, were selected to be supported. Shree Jagriti Secondary School has about 600 students from 1 to 12 grades, and Shree Mahalaxmi Adharbhut School has about 100 students from 1 to 8 grades. The WeLoveU planned to build a library in both schools to help the students’ education.
On December 23, the WeLoveU volunteers from the Kathmandu Chapter first visited Shree Nawa Jagriti Secondary School. The library had old desks, chairs, and only a few books. The volunteers renovated the library by freshly painting the walls, changing the flooring, putting desks, cushions, and handmade bookshelves. Four hundred books were stored in the library. The opening ceremony was held on the 28th, and the volunteers, Principle Udav Prashad Adhakari, faculties, students, parents, and local officials attended to celebrate the opening of the library.
On February 15, 2019, the WeLoveU continued volunteering in Shree Mahalaxmi Adharbhut. An empty class room, which had been used as a storage space, has become a place where students can read books in a comfortable setting made with volunteer’s sincere care. The opening ceremony was held on the 18th, and the volunteers, Principle Anjana Subedi, students, parents, faculties, and local officials attended the ceremony. The volunteers donated 400 books to the school, and 100 backpacks to the students who don’t have a backpack.

Principle Anjana Subedi said, “I give sincere gratitude to the WeLoveU Foundation for helping students receive better education.” Shree Nawa Jagriti Secondary School and Shree Mahalaxmi Adharbhut School gave a certificate of appreciation to the WeLoveU for upgrading the quality of education by building libraries.
The two libraries were named “Mother’s Love Library.” The WeLoveU volunteers from the Kathmandu Chapter hoped just as children grow up with dreams and hopes in their mother’s arms, they will have dreams and hopes in the library.
