Signed a letter of intent with the Ecuadorian Embassy in Korea and donated 1,000 test kits and 20,000 face masks 

On July 31, Chairwoman Zahng Gil-jah and board members of the WeLoveU visited the Ecuadorian Embassy in Korea to fulfill the promise of donating face masks.
On July 31, Chairwoman Zahng Gil-jah and board members of the WeLoveU promised donating 20,000 face masks at the Ecuadorian Embassy in the presence of the embassy officials and Johnny D. Reinoso the Ecuadorian Ambassador, Chief of Mission in Korea.

In March 2020, the World Health Organization [WHO] declared global emergency over COVID-19 pandemic. The countries in Central and South America declared a state of emergency and took measures, including canceling all flights, but even so, COVID-19 spiraled out of control. As the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 and the death toll rapidly increased, Ecuador too became mired in a national crisis.

Meanwhile, the Intl. WeLoveU Foundation planned to donate test kits to Ecuador in partnership with the Ecuadorian Embassy in Korea. Before donating to Ecuador, the WeLoveU and the Ecuadorian Embassy in Korea held a Letter of Intent [LOI] signing ceremony for mutual cooperation in various fields such as eradicating poverty and protecting the environment as well as providing emergency relief on May 13. Chairwoman Zahng Gil-jah, board members of the WeLoveU, Johnny D. Reinoso the Ecuadorian Ambassador, Chief of Mission in Korea, and the embassy officials attended the signing ceremony, which was held at the headquarters of the WeLoveU located at Pangyo New Town, Gyeonggi-do, Korea.

Chairwoman Zahng Gil-jah promised to make an additional donation of face masks in the near future, considering the situation in Korea and overseas, and said, “It is a given to help one another since we are one family in global village. We really hope that things will get better soon in Ecuador.” Reinoso the Ecuadorian Ambassador, Chief of Mission in Korea expressed gratitude to the WeLoveU for the timely support, saying, “Ecuador is in a very bad situation as the number of confirmed cases exceeded 30,000, but the WeLoveU’s support will definitely be of great help to the citizens.” 

The WeLoveU’s ceremony of donating protective equipment against COVID-19 was held at the main building of Ecuador’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility at around 11 a.m. in the local time on August 7. Luis Gallegos the Ecuadorian Foreign Minister, Xavier Solórzano the Vice Health Minister, and officials in each department, along with Choi Jeong-woo the WeLoveU branch manager in Quito, Ecuador, and six other WeLoveU members, attended the ceremony, keeping the number of attendees as low as possible to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The WeLoveU donated 20,000 face masks [KF94] and 500 test kits to Ministry of Public Health, and 500 test kits to Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility. The donated good will be delivered to health centers and vulnerable social groups.

On August 7, the Intl. WeLoveU Foundation, which was established by Chairwoman Zahng Gil-jah, held the ceremony of donating face masks and test kits to the Ministry of Public Health and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility at Palacio de Najas, the main building of Ecuador’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility.
On August 7, the WeLoveU’s ceremony of donating protective equipment against COVID-19 was held at the main building of Ecuador’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility.

Gallegos the Foreign Minister said, “We are truly grateful to the WeLoveU for helping Ecuador recover from earthquake damage in 2016 and cope with the COVID-19 pandemic as well.” Solórzano the Vice Health Minister sent his regard to the WeLoveU, saying, “I’m deeply indebted to Chairwoman Zahng Gil-jah for helping out the citizens of Ecuador. I will keep supporting the WeLoveU so that their good activities for mankind will continue.”

On the 7th day and 13th day, the Ecuadorian Embassy in Korea and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility each expressed gratitude to Chairwoman Zahng Gil-jah for her concern about the national crisis of Ecuador and supporting the country. As a global NGO that has carried out relief activities based on partnership with governments and organizations in each country, the WeLoveU will continue to provide humanitarian assistance to the world to save the lives of neighbors in the global village until COVID-19 pandemic gets fully eradicated.
