WeLoveU’s COVID-19 Emergency Relief Efforts
The WeLoveU joins COVID-19 response efforts with the love of a mother who cares for the safety of families in the global village. By partnering with governments and institutions, we support medical staff and patients fighting COVID-19 as well as vulnerable populations to prevent COVID-19 infection as they are at risk of unprotected exposure to the pandemic, and economically distressed people to secure a stabilized livelihood.

Relief Efforts ①
We help the vulnerable be protected from COVID-19 and have an improved living condition.
We immediately deliver personal disinfection items such as hygienic face masks and hand sanitizers to vulnerable groups in welfare blind spots and provide sanitation facility and supplies to institutions under poor and deprived conditions. We also offer groceries and daily necessities to the economically distressed people to help stabilize their living situation, and donate educational supplies with the aim of closing the education gap.

The first confirmed case of COVID-19 occurred in Laos on March 24, 2020. Although a relatively low number of people have so far been infected since the first reported case, still there are some grounds for caution given a small number of people being tested and continuous increase of people with COVID-19 symptoms. By closely cooperating with Lao government agencies including the Lao Front for National Development and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Laos, we donated 1,248 Korean-made test kits and 10,000 hygienic face masks to the Ministry of Health of Laos on May 9, 2020.

To prevent the spread of COVID-19, the Ecuadorian government declared a state of emergency on March 16, 2020. With the sharp increase of COVID-19 confirmed cases, Ecuador became mired as the country’s public health system was in danger of collapse. As per the urgent request of the Ecuadorian Embassy in South Korea, the WeLoveU donated 1,000 test kits in May. Besides, we donated 20,000 face masks in August after signing a Letter of Intent [LOI] with the Embassy to bilaterally cooperate in humanitarian work at diverse levels.

The first confirmed case of COVID-19 occurred on March 3, 2020 in Ukraine. As the COVID-19 pandemic spiraled out of control, Ukraine declared a state of emergency in various regions. The WeLoveU donated 10,000 hygienic face masks to a designated COVID-19 hospital in cooperation with the Ukrainian Embassy and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine on January 14, 2021.

El Salvador’s Department of Education, Central Regional Health Bureau under El Salvador’s Ministry of Health
Following the World Health Organization’s [WHO] declaration of COVID-19 as a pandemic on March 11, 2020, El Salvador took strict measures such as restricting foreigners from entering the country and stopping all school activities. Amidst the continuous increase of COVID-19 cases, the WeLoveU donated 23,000 face masks and 302 hand sanitizers to the Central Regional Health Bureau on January 7, 2021. We also donated 30,000 face masks and 757 hand sanitizers to the Department of Education of El Salvador for COVID-19 prevention in schools.

The first confirmed case of COVID-19 occurred on March 3, 2020 in Chile. Despite the government’s various measures to combat the uncontrollable spread of COVID-19, widespread growth of the coronavirus is still seen across the country. The WeLoveU signed an MOU with the Department of Health of Chile and donated 20,100 face masks and 1,340 hand sanitizers to the organization on December 10, 2020.

The U.S. is faced with various challenges due to the spread of COVID-19 including health care crisis and the digital divide triggered by the transition to remote learning. The WeLoveU donated 6,000 face masks, 6,600 medical supplies and 156 sanitation supplies in cooperation with medical institutions in the U.S. In addition, the WeLoveU launched a new project, “Closing the Homework Gap,” through which we provided 306 digital devices in consultation with educational institutions to ensure vulnerable students have access to online education.
