Mother’s love delivered to the Nokcheon Town
“We are delivering the love of Mother.”
On November 25, the Intl. WeLoveU Foundation donated 10,000 coal briquettes to the Nokcheon Town, Weolgae 2-dong, Nowon-gu, Seoul. Following the will of Chairwoman Zahng Gil-jah who is well aware that winter is the most difficult season for our unprivileged neighbors, the Foundation members rolled their sleeves up again in three days after they held the kimchi-making event for unfortunate neighbors.
Despite the cold weather, 60 members as well as Chairwoman Zahng Gil-jah, a Goodwill Ambassador of the Foundation actor Kim Seong-hwan, and the Head of the Nowon Borough Kim Seong-hwan of the same name, participated in the “Delivery of Coal Briquettes for Neighbors in Need 2010.”
The neighbors who received the coal briquettes were 100 households from senior citizens living alone and the recipients of livelihood program in Nokcheon Town. The members delivered kimchi, rice and gift sets to the underprivileged families. Chairwoman Zahng Gil-jah comforted them, saying, “The members of the WeLoveU Foundation wholeheartedly prepared these things. Please be healthy in cold winter.”

Houses using conventional heating system—coal briquettes—stand close together in the Nocheon Town, but the families who are worse off cannot even afford to buy coal briquettes. For them, the volunteers pulled handcarts loaded with briquettes to deliver them and in narrow paths which it was difficult for the handcarts to pass, they stood in a row and passed the coal briquettes to the next persons. The Head of the Nokcheon Town, Kim Sun-cheol (65 years old), expressed his gratitude to the members with the words, “I’m really grateful for you to come. I feel like to bow down before you.”
The Head of the Nowon Borough, Kim Seong-hwan, praised the members, saying, “Nokchoen Town has been designated as a redeveloped area, so it is hard to repair the hoses. Naturally, the residents live a rugged life. This is the reason why your warm hearts are warmer than the heat of coal briquettes.” The actor Kim Seong-hwan who joined the event despite his busy schedule, encouraged the residents, saying, “I’m very happy to be able to do something good thanks to the WeLoveU Foundation. I hope that you will gather heart.”

On the faces of the members who took part in the volunteer activity despite their busy schedules, big smiles bloomed all the while. Ms. Park Chun-ja (67 years old) who lived together with her grandson clasped the members’ hands and expressed her gratitude again and again. Her grandson is eleven years old and he is the only elementary school student in this town. Through the hands that they held together, the warmth of love delivered each other.
