As the amount of disposable waste has increased sharply due to COVID-19,
Korea Ministry of Environment has taken measures to reduce the use of disposable products for the sustainable environment of the earth. They announced that from November 24, the sale of plastic bags at stores will be prohibited and that the use of disposable items such as paper cups and plastic straws will be banned.
Similar policies are implemented in other countries as well.
The United States plans to cease the sale and distribution of disposable plastic products in national parks and public lands by 2032, while France banned the packaging of fruits and vegetables in plastic from the first day of this year.
The WeLoveU conducted the Bring Your Own Cup Challenge to promote the use of reusable cups instead of disposable ones in order to preserve the beautiful environment of our planet. This aims to reduce the carbon emissions caused by disposable waste and prevent global warming.
The more you use reusable cups, the greater the effect of carbon reduction will be,
so it is important to make it a habit.
For this, the WeLoveU members brought out their unused tumblers and mugs!
Now, let’s share the vivid stories of the members who participated in this challenge.

Lee Ja-yeong from Korea
I liked to use paper cups because it’s convenient. But I decided to drink tea in my own tumblers with my friends after learning that using reusable cups alone can help lower the global temperature. It’s good to know that even small actions can help the planet. I will continue to use my own tumblers.

Gye Gyeong-nam from Korea
I made much efforts to promote the Bring Your Own Cup Challenge, and it was very effective.
I use my own cup when I drink coffee, share tea, and when I drink water. The coffee and tea taste even better because I share.

Modest A (nickname) from Korea
I stopped using paper cups and use reusable cups. At first, I felt lazy to wash the cup, but now I bring my own cup wherever I go. Even people around me have started using their own cups. This must be a positive thing, right?

Two is better than one, and together is better than alone.

I decided to take part in the Bring Your Own Cup Challenge at the children’s gathering, and it was a little disappointing that there weren’t many adults than the children. I hope everyone will join us next time.

The WeLoveU’s Bring Your Own Cup Challenge is really cool because we can save the earth by doing small things like reducing disposable paper cups. I hope that our children can preserve the nature so that they can see and feel the beautiful nature that we enjoy at no cost.

In Las Vegas, the weather is so dry that you have to keep drinking water all the time. For the month of November, not only using personal cups, I will continue to do everything I can for the sustainable environment in Las Vegas.

Oh Kyeong-mi from Korea
I’ve become interested in the environment these days. While wondering how I could help nature, I became interested in the WeLoveU’s Bring Your Own Cup Challenge. It was good that anyone could participate in it easily. Since I started bringing my own tumbler, I drink water more often. Thumps up to the WeLoveU for making efforts to protect the earth.

Lee Seon-mi from Korea
I enjoyed the autumn with nice people today. We went to a place where a landfill was transformed into a park with many gas collection tanks in various places. I felt like having a picnic without hurting nature. From now on, I will keep using disposable items.
