International WeLoveU Foundation

Whereas, The Senate of Pennsylvania and the Pennsylvania House of Representatives are always pleased to recognize those citizens and organizations that, through a dedication to excellence, contribute in a meaningful way to the well-being of their communities and ultimately to all the people of this Commonwealth; and

Whereas, the International WeLoveU Foundation is being recognized for its prolific record of community service projects and outreach in Pennsylvania, particularly in the 2nd Senatorial District and 202nd Legislative District. The organization was founded in 2001 in South Korea to deliver hope and happiness to people in despair. Since then, active participation in the Foundation has grown to include more than 150,000 volunteers in 50 countries; and

Whereas, the International WeLoveU Foundation engages in five primary community outreach initiatives which align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Through the Clean WORLD Movement initiative, the Foundation has carried out more than 1,287 service projects involving 218,373 participants; and

Whereas, in November 2017, the Foundation brought 50 volunteers to Tarken Recreation Center where they collected 1,000 pounds of trash, removed graffiti, and refurbished basketball courts; in March 2018, 60 volunteers returned to Tarken to remove large weeds, repaint the recreation building, and collect 1,600 pounds of trash; in April 2018, 25 volunteers planted 100 trees in Philadelphia’s Kensington section; in June 2018, 20 volunteers planted 100 wild flowers along Devereaux Avenue; and in October 2018, 70 Foundation volunteers collected 2,300 pounds of trash and cleaned 20 city blocks along Summerdale Avenue. There are many other examples of impactful service projects carried out by the International WeLoveU Foundation.

Now therefore, the Senate of Pennsylvania and Pennsylvania House of Representatives pay tribute to the International WeLoveU Foundation; proudly note its exemplary record of service and contributions in keeping with the highest ideals of this great Commonwealth; offer best wishes for the continuation of its many worthwhile and beneficial endeavors;

And directs that a copy of this document, sponsored by Senator Christine M. Tartaglione and Representative Jared G. Solomon, be transmitted to the International WeLoveU Foundation.
