A special time of learning was held at three schools
in Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, and the nearby city of Bhaktapur.
Through the “WeLoveU School” program, students received hygiene education
and hygiene supplies to help them put healthy habits into practice.

Handwashing is the most basic yet reliable way to prevent infectious diseases.
However, many households and schools in Nepal
still lack proper hand hygiene environments.

According to the Progress on Household Drinking Water,
Sanitation and Hygiene 2000–2022 report published
by the World Health Organization (WHO) and UNICEF,
35% of households in Nepal have handwashing facilities
but without adequate soap and water,
while 2% have none at all.

The situation is even more serious in schools
—only 45% are equipped with handwashing facilities
that include hygiene supplies.

To help improve this situation, WeLoveU visited three schools
and provided detailed education on the importance of hand hygiene
and proper handwashing techniques to 1,020 students.

The children practiced proper handwashing techniques using soap
and learned healthy hygiene habits. Teachers also took an active role
in emphasizing to the students the importance of maintaining clean hands.

At the same time, a ceremony was held to deliver hygiene supplies.
WeLoveU presented students with hygiene kits containing handkerchiefs,
nail clippers, and soap, and provided each school
with five sets of shared hand sanitizers and dispensers.

A teacher from Shree Mahalakshmi Basic School said,
“It was truly a meaningful time because our students
were able to learn hygiene knowledge essential for daily life.
It has had a positive effect on improving their lifestyle habits.”

The students also made a promise, saying,
“From now on, we will wash our hands clean.”

Poor hygiene environments can spread infectious diseases
and lower the overall quality of life.

Through WeLoveU’s hygiene education and the provision of hygiene supplies,
we hope to help children in Nepal develop healthy habits and contribute
to improving the overall hygiene standards of their communities.
