On March 13, a completion ceremony for water pumps was held at Prohot Primary School in Takeo, Cambodia. The event celebrated the installation of water pumps donated by the Intl. WeLoveU Foundation, led by Chairwoman Zahng Gil-jah. One pump was installed at both Takim Primary School and Prohot Primary School. The ceremony was attended by prominent figures, including Minister of Post and Telecommunications So Khun, officials from the Ministry of Culture and Education, teachers, students, local representatives, and community residents. The occasion was widely covered by the media, with reporters from nine different news outlets enthusiastically reporting on the event.
Cambodia is a country where the Mekong River, known for its large water volume, flows through and where half of the year is rainy season. Despite this, there is a shortage of water for daily use due to high levels of limestone in the water and insufficient resources to manage water supplies. Many villages rely on wells for drinking water, but these wells are often inadequate for the number of residents.

The situation was similar at both Takim Primary School and Prohot Primary School. Takim Primary School had a contaminated well, while Prohot Primary School’s well had long since dried up. As a result, children either brought water from home or, when that wasn’t possible, drank from a nearby stream.

To ensure that the children could drink clean water safely, WeLoveU drilled more than 70 meters deep to access fresh groundwater. When water began to gush out during the drilling process, the children cheered with excitement, raising their hands in joy.

Their happiness continued on the day of the completion. WeLoveU members distributed a set of school supplies to each of the children, who were thrilled with their new items. Minister So Khun, on behalf of the Deputy Governor of Takeo, presented a certificate of appreciation to WeLoveU, expressing gratitude for helping the students focus on their studies without worrying about access to clean water.
