Donald Payne Jr., a U.S. House Representative, complimented the disaster relief efforts in Mozambique carried out by the Intl. WeLoveU Foundation, during a speech at the House of Representatives plenary session

On September 11, 2019, Donald Payne Jr, the US. Representative for New Jersey’s 10th Congressional District introduced the Intl. WeLoveU Foundation at the House of Representatives plenary session held in the U.S. capital of Washington D.C.

In the plenary session of the House of Representatives, bill proposals, legislative deliberations, and voting take place; the first action to proceed in the meeting is a congressmen’s free speech. Donald Payne Jr. requested a one-minute speech at this meeting to present and congratulate the accomplishment of the New Life Family Walkathon held by the East Coast Chapter of the WeLoveU Foundation. This declaration is to be preserved in the records of the U.S. Congress.

“This organization (WeLoveU) and their supporters are doing their best to improve people’s life and their conditions across the world. The WeLoveU Foundation is an organization that focuses on the belief that we are all humans and we will achieve the best results when we help one another. In July, I attended one of the WeLoveU Foundation events; it was a walkathon held at Liberty State Park in New Jersey. The WeLoveU Foundation raised $50,000 to support disaster relief activities in Mozambique. The village, farms, and houses in Mozambique were destroyed by two hurricanes. Most people didn’t even realize what happened, but I was impressed to see 2,500 people dedicating their time and effort to help people thousands miles away. Giving a hand to the misfortunate people in crisis—that is what the WeLoveU Foundation does. I’m proud to support what the WeLoveU Foundation is doing, and I hope to be able to compliment more organizations like this in the future.”1

The 23rd walkathon hosted by the WeLoveU Foundation, introduced by Congressman Payne, was held on July 28, 2019 to help the citizens of Mozambique who suffered massive damage from the Cyclone Idai. Prominent people from diverse fields such as Mozambique Ambassador to the United States H.E. Carlos Dos Santos, General Secretary Felipe Queipo of the UN DGC, WeLoveU members, and 2,500 citizens participated in this event. During the first part of the ceremony, guest speaker Congressman Payne expressed gratitude for the WeLoveU Foundation’s efforts to help their global neighbors in distant countries, and he promised to introduce and pay tribute to the WeLoveU Foundation at the House of Representative plenary session that was to be held in September.

As the WeLoveU Foundation became known to the U.S. House of Representatives through his speech, it is expected that interest and participation in the diverse welfare activities of WeLoveU Foundation such as emergency relief, social welfare programs, and educational support, will increase throughout the United States, starting with representatives from different congressional districts and citizens as well.
