Delivering warmth to 1,250 households, including flood victims and underprivileged families

This summer, the rainy season lasted long and several typhoons such as Barbie, Maysak, and Haishen hit the Korean Peninsula in a series. Throughout the nation, buildings were damaged and floods arose by the strong wind and heavy rain. Suffering the flood damage in the midst of economic recession caused by COVID-19, the victims were at a loss what to do ahead of Chuseok, a Korean national holiday.

The Intl. WeLoveU Foundation decided to help the typhoon and flood victims so that they could have happy Chuseok. The WeLoveU members in various places, including Jeolla-do and Gyeongsang-do which were deadly hit by the disasters, put their heads together for carrying out relief efforts.

The Intl. WeLoveU Foundation, led by Chairwoman Zahng Gil-jah, delivered grocery packages, each of which has 13 different groceries, to a total of 1,250 households, including flood victim families and underprivileged families, in celebration of Chuseok.
Chairwoman Zahng Gil-jah of the Intl. WeLoveU Foundation carried out the project of donating grocery sets to typhoon and flood victim families in cooperation with community service centers in Hwigyeong 2-dong, Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul, Korea.

The WeLoveU members visited offices of districts, counties, and cities, and welfare administration institutions in 50 different regions over four days between September 25 and September 28 and delivered groceries in celebration of Chuseok. The grocery packages that contained instant food such as Samgyetang (ginseng chicken soup), abalone rice porridge, and cup rice as well as cooking oil, sesame oil, instant noodles, and canned food were donated to the victims’ families through each local municipality. Their helping hand reached out to a total of 1,250 households, including single-parent families, the elderly living alone, and underprivileged families.

The local government officials expressed gratitude to the WeLoveU for providing necessary supplies to their underprivileged neighbors in celebration of Chuseok. Hong Sun-sam, the Chief of Nonhyeon 2-dong, Namdong-gu, Incheon, said, “The donation of supplies drastically has decreased due to COVID-19 that put the economy in bad shape. I’m truly thankful to the WeLoveU for donating necessary supplies in the midst of the current crisis. They will be of great help to our neighbors.”

The WeLoveU’s Share Love Event for National Holiday of the Lunar New Year and Chuseok has been held on a nationwide scale since 2015. The WeLoveU continues to deliver love for their neighbors suffering from various disasters and hardships of life, especially during National Holidays. Mother’s love for neighbors makes holidays pleasant.
