With the heart of a family who tries to relieve them of worries and pains
The city nursing home in Oaxaca, Mexico, runs on a budget from National System for Integral Family Development [DIF]. There are about 50 elderly people in the nursing home, however, the allocated budget was tight, and so not every elderly person could receive adequate care. Particularly, the elderly people, who stayed in the nursing home for a long time because they could not receive any care from their family, could not purchase what they want even if they needed something. They just had to keep using the old products they had, and it was inconvenient for them.
The Intl. WeLoveU Foundation learned of the situation at the nursing home after paying a visit in person, and decided to provide elderly care products for the disabled elderly people at the nursing home in cooperation with DIF in Oaxaca.
On December 18, the donation ceremony was held in the presence of the WeLoveU members, elderly people, and officials from DIF at the City Nursing Home in Oaxaca, Mexico. The WeLoveU donated walking assist devices—12 wheelchairs and 7 canes—along with 2 boxes of elderly care products. The elderly people tried sitting down on the wheelchairs and were delighted. Some of them were moved to tears of joy.
Cristo Montero Pineda the Vice Director of DIF, who attended the donation ceremony, expressed gratitude to the WeLoveU, saying, “We made a request to many other organizations for help before, but it didn’t go well. But I was very surprised to see an organization from another country, WeLoveU, was willing to give a sincere, helping hand without expecting anything in return.”
Martha Benfield López the Honorary Chairperson of DIF, said, “These days, due to the rise of individualism, people no longer respect the elderly, and they may talk about welfare for the aged, but do not really take any action. But the WeLoveU takes action instead of merely speaking words, and this is really impressive and admirable.”
On the other hand, MVM Noticias, which is a local broadcast, introduced the news of the donation ceremony and the activities that the Intl. WeLoveU Foundation carried out in Mexico on the day and the following day as well.
Family is what one misses the most when he is in the most difficult and tough time. The WeLoveU will continue to take care of alienated neighbors with the heart of a family who shares not only joy but also pains and sufferings together.
