100 Million KRW Donated to Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association

From mid-March to early April, more than 30 wildfires of various sizes broke out across multiple regions in South Korea, including Sancheong-gun and Gimhae in Gyeongsangnam-do, Uiseong-gun and Cheongsong-gun in Gyeongsangbuk-do, and Ulju-gun in Ulsan Metropolitan City.

The fires, driven by dry weather and strong winds, swept through the Yeongnam region, destroying countless homes and livelihoods. As a result, several areas—Sancheong-gun and Hadong-gun in Gyeongnam; Uiseong-gun, Cheongsong-gun, Yeongyang-gun, Yeongdeok-gun, and Andong-si in Gyeongbuk; and Ulju-gun in Ulsan-si—were officially declared Special Disaster Zones due to the severity of the wildfire damage.

On April 18, the International WeLoveU Foundation (Chairwoman Zahng Gil-jah, hereinafter referred to as WeLoveU) visited the Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association to deliver a donation of 100 million KRW (approx. 74,000 USD) to help stabilize the lives of wildfire victims and support the recovery of their homes and communities.

Kim Joong-rak, WeLoveU Chairman of the Board, said, “We are deeply saddened by the news of wildfire damage affecting local residents and firefighters. We hope this donation, filled with our members’ sincerity, will aid in relief efforts for the affected areas. Please don’t lose hope and stay strong.”

Song Pil-ho, Chairman of Hope Bridge, responded, “While the wildfire damage is severe, we were worried that fundraising might be difficult because of the challenging domestic economy. Thanks to the concern and support of many, our hearts are warmed. We sincerely thank you, WeLoveU, for your generous help.”

WeLoveU plans to continue offering a range of support to help wildfire victims regain stability in their daily lives. We kindly ask for your continued interest and encouragement to help them through these challenging times.
