To commemorate “International Day of Clean Air for blue skies” (September 7) and “World Habitat Day” (October 6), the International WeLoveU Foundation (hereinafter referred to as “WeLoveU”) carried out the “Clean WORLD Movement 2025” from September 8 to November 16 across 13 countries, including South Korea, the Philippines, Peru, Mexico, Tanzania, and Ethiopia.
International Day of Clean Air for blue skies
A day dedicated to raising awareness of air pollution and reaffirming global cooperation to improve air quality.
World Habitat Day
A day that recognizes everyone’s right to adequate housing and reminds society of its responsibility to improve poor living conditions.
WeLoveU members and local residents conducted cleanups throughout their communities—along rivers, coastlines, streets, and parks—collecting waste that pollutes the environment, while also carrying out environmental education and awareness campaigns to improve understanding of environmental issues.

Small Actions Create Big Change
The Great Pacific Garbage Patch (GPGP), a massive accumulation of floating waste in the Pacific Ocean, contains an estimated 80,000 metric tons of debris, comprising approximately 1.8 trillion pieces. It is estimated that removing this waste would require 78,000 years.
When waste overwhelms the planet, it leads not only to environmental degradation but also to serious threats to human health.
👉 When There Is Excessive Waste

Impact on the Earth
Polluted soil, water, and air spread globally through ocean currents, rainfall, and wind, causing widespread damage to ecosystems.

Impact on Humans — Physical Health
① Chemical substances irritate the respiratory system, triggering respiratory diseases such as asthma and allergies.
② Contaminated water and food increase the risk of infectious diseases.

Impact on Humans — Mental Health
① Psychological stress, including discomfort and anxiety, is generated.
② Over time, brain health, including concentration and memory, is affected.
Conversely, a clean environment provides a foundation for sustainable life for both the Earth and humanity.

Together With Local Communities 🙌
In Honduras, members from San Salvador, El Salvador, crossed national borders to join local members in community cleanups and environmental awareness campaigns.
As members cleaned the area surrounding Segundo Anillo Avenue in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, and introduced the Clean WORLD Movement to passing drivers, one local resident recorded the scene on a mobile phone and offered a thumbs-up in support.

Members realized that creating a safe and pleasant local environment contributes to community well-being and expressed their desire to continue participating in cleanup efforts.
Cleanups in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, and Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, also served as meaningful opportunities to raise public awareness of the importance of environmental sustainability.

Abdul Ahmed Mollel, Chairman of the Msolomi Local Government in Dar es Salaam, remarked, “When the world becomes cleaner, our lives become more comfortable. I hope many people will take part in keeping our world clean.”
In Gimhae, Korea, members conducted a cleanup near the Daeseong-dong Tomb Complex (Gaya Tumuli), a UNESCO World Heritage Site, helping to preserve cultural heritage.

Throughout 2025, participants in the Clean WORLD Movement recognized that the Earth is our only home and reaffirmed their commitment to ongoing efforts to beautify the global community.
Trevor Lleka Sepua, Principal of Seroto Matshehla Primary School, stated, “We taught students how to keep their school clean. The students who participated today will be appointed as school cleanliness ambassadors.”
Yong King Hung, Principal of SMP W.R. Supratman 2 in Medan, Indonesia, expressed his gratitude to WeLoveU Chairwoman Zahng Gil-jah for enabling students to take part in environmental education and cleanup activities, and voiced his hope for continued cooperation toward a healthier planet.

Lim Mal-suk, a Busan Metropolitan City Councilor, commented, “Climate change is a global crisis. Only when local governments and residents join hands—alongside organizations like WeLoveU—can we maintain a clean environment. Please reach out whenever support is needed. We are ready to work together.”

When global citizens work in solidarity, we can protect clear skies and healthy living environments—and illuminate a brighter future and a more beautiful life for all.
