WHEREAS, The International WeLoveU Foundation began in South Korea in 2001, and has been helping its neighbors here on O‘ahu since 2011, and
WHEREAS, Founder Zahng Gil-Jah's undying passion and concern for others is the spark that has allowed WeLoveU to spread to the farthest reaches of the global village, and thanks to her commitment and dedication, the International WeLoveU Foundation has branched out to more than 50 countries across the world, and
WHEREAS, the foundation has nearly 3 million members worldwide and 130 dedicated members on O‘ahu, and
WHEREAS, The International WeLoveU Foundation conducts various kinds of volunteer service activities such as disaster relief, help for children in poverty, blood drives, visits to kupuna living in senior homes, and participating in environmental cleanups throughout many local communities, and
WHEREAS, because The International WeLoveU Foundation is concerned about the overall state of our society, it aims to share a “mother’s love” with our local communities in efforts to treat our world as a global village, and
WHEREAS, through these ongoing efforts to share love and happiness, and to demonstrate an honest commitment to these values, individuals as well as communities begin to see a reversal of despair and alienation, and
WHEREAS, while O‘ahu foundation members have found that all of their community related experiences rewarding, they acknowledge the most rewarding is when community members are themselves moved and motivated, because of the foundation’s efforts, to begin contributing to build a better society, and
BECAUSE, it can be agreed upon that our home and our world is a much better place because of the principles, mission, dedication, and commitment of individuals who belong to organizations such as The International WeLoveU Foundation,
SO THEREFORE, on behalf of the people of the City and County of Honolulu, the City Council hereby honors and recognizes The International WeLoveU Foundation and the members and volunteers of the O‘ahu Chapter for its ongoing dedication to the people of O‘ahu by carrying out the vision and the mission put forth by its founder. The Council further extends its best wishes to them for continued success.
