WHEREAS, it is the sense of Wilmington City Council to pay tribute to and formally acknowledge those organizations that distinguish themselves through professional excellence and community service; and
WHEREAS, the International WeLoveU Foundation is a nonprofit organization founded by Chairwoman Zahng Gil-jah in 2001, and in less than two decades, it is now carrying out good works in more than 50 countries across the world; and
WHEREAS, the International WeLoveU Foundation promotes unity and friendship among all people of the global village—beyond nationality, race, religion, and socioeconomic status—through impactful initiatives carried out with the heart of a mother; and
WHEREAS, the International WeLoveU Foundation organizes and carries out numerous volunteer service activities around the world through various initiatives including: Blood Drives, Disaster Relief, Environmental Protection, Social Welfare and International Aid; and
WHEREAS, the volunteers from the International WeLoveU Foundation hosted a book drive from September 23rd until October 28th and donated 1,600 books to the Wilmington Hospital Health Center Pediatric Clinic to encourage and comfort child patients, promote literacy in the community, and help them succeed in school; and
WHEREAS, the volunteers from the International WeLoveU Foundation utilized their time to also raise awareness about the importance of cultivating the minds of future generations through reading.
Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved By The Council Of The City Of Wilmington, on behalf of the citizens of Wilmington, hereby recognize the International WeLoveU Foundation on the 19th day of October 2018. We offer them our thanks and appreciation and wish them much success all the years to come.
