A Happy World Where Human Rights Thrive
Human rights refer to the fundamental rights that every individual
inherently possesses as a human being, ensuring that they can live with dignity.
Freedom Rights
The right not to be restricted by the state authority in one’s freedom: academic freedom, freedom of speech and the press, freedom of assembly, freedom of the body,
freedom of thought, etc.
Social Rights
The right to demand social security measures from the state for a dignified life as a human being: rights for education, environment, labor rights, etc.
Equality Rights
The right to equality before the law and not to be discriminated against in political, economic, and social life.
Individuals have the inherent right to be respected and happy, regardless of
nationality, ethnicity, gender, age, language, disability, education, family status,
economic status, or any other distinction. Furthermore, states are obliged
to make efforts to guarantee and promote the human rights of their citizens.
The Universal Declaration of Human Rights Article 1.
All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights.
They are endowed with reason and conscience
and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood.
In commemoration of Human Rights Day December 10, WeLoveU organized
the WeLoveU Human Rights Art Competition 2023 to elevate awareness
and understanding of human rights, fostering a culture of mutual respect,
with the aim of creating a world where no one feels lonely.

From December 15 to 22, WeLoveU members around the world
submitted various paintings and videos online speaking the dignity
and value of humanity, including freedom, equality, justice, and respect.
Among them, 13 works were selected as award-winning pieces.

Ubuntu for the Promotion of Human Rights!
Instead of running alone to claim the fruit as the winner, the African children
walked hand in hand with their friends to share and enjoy together.
The African proverb “Ubuntu” means “I am because we are,”
which embodies the love for humanity, recognizing that true happiness
is achieved when everyone is happy together.
The spirit of Ubuntu is necessary for the raise of human rights.
By looking around with the mindset that I can be happy when others are happy,
we can uphold the rights of everyone in the global family
without leaving anyone ostracized.

WeLoveU will continue to spread awareness of the value of human rights
and make efforts to create a happy world where everyone’s rights are protected.
Thank you, everyone who participated
in the WeLoveU Human Rights Art Competition!
Helping Venezuelan Refugees and Migrants Settle Smoothly
People leaving Venezuela, due to a severe economic downturn and social issues, are crossing the border into Brazil. Every day, Boa Vista in Roraima, close to Venezuela, is bustling with migrants and refugees. On humanitarian grounds, the Brazilian government is assisting their settlement in the community under cooperation with local authorities and international organizations.

WeLoveU too contributed to their settlement.
On August 11, after discussions with officials from the UN Refugee Agency’s Boa Vista office, WeLoveU decided to support the Centro de Coordenação de Interiorização (CCI),
a refugee coordination center, with educational equipment.

The CCI is an organization that helps migrants and refugees
learn various job skills to settle quickly into communities.
From April 2018 to July 2023, around 110,000 migrants and refugees
who arrived in Roraima strived self-reliance through vocational training. However,
the CCI had been struggling with a severe lack of digital educational equipment,
which hindered the smooth progress of their training programs.
To address this, WeLoveU donated 20 laptops to the CCI on December 21.

Athos Roberto Souza, Deputy Commander of the Humanitarian Logistics Task Force
“This donation by WeLoveU will greatly held the education of Venezuelan refugees. Securing employment will make it easier for them to settle in Brazil, accelerating community integration. Therefore, educational equipment is truly important.
We are very grateful to WeLoveU for contributing to better integration by donating these computers.”
Athos Roberto Souza, Deputy Commander of the Humanitarian Logistics Task Force

Marcel Boccia, Internalization and Integration Coordinator at IOM-UN Migration
“The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is very grateful for WeLoveU’s donation. This is important as it helps Venezuelan migrants learn skills and train themselves for employment, aiding in their settlement and integration.
We sincerely appreciate your attention and dedication in providing such necessary assistance.”
Marcel Boccia, Internalization and Integration Coordinator at IOM-UN Migration

Gregório Pernia, Professor at SENAI University of Technology
“Thanks to these computers, the quality of education will improve. They are more modern and sophisticated than the previous equipment.
We will now be able to engage with the refugees through new and diverse programs. I am very grateful to WeLoveU Chairwoman Zahng Gil-jah for executing such an excellent plan in a highly humanitarian way.”
Gregório Pernia, Professor at SENAI University of Technology
WeLoveU is dedicated to protecting people in distress due to conflicts,
climate crises, economic crises, and other challenges. We will continue to provide
necessary support in coordination with relevant organizations and local communities
to help these individuals start new lives in a safe environment.
Making a Beautiful World in Harmony
“We’ve made this together with dried flowers. Isn’t it beautiful?”

On December 10, WeLoveU members in Hong Kongparticipated in a cultural activity
with disabled people at the Wong Tai Sin Day Activity Centre.
This initiative was part of their efforts to support Neighbourhood Advice-Action Council [NAAC], which works to address the difficulties of the underprivileged and to improve the social functioning of individuals, families, and communities.

During the event, WeLoveU members engaged in drawing
and making simple crafts with their neighbours with disabilities.
Such activities are known to aid in the rehabilitation of those with disabilities,
helping them unlock their potential and encouraging their active participation in society.
Non-disabled participants gained a better understanding of the challenges that people with disabilities face, fostering empathy and contributing to the creation of a more inclusive society.

Gathering in small groups around tables,
the members carefully created art pieces with their neighbours.
The atmosphere was filled with laughter and joy, as everyone showed
care and consideration for one another throughout the activity.

On the same day, the NAAC presented WeLoveU with a certificate of appreciation,
expressing their gratitude for the organisation’s active participation and support.

Cheung Wai Hung, Team Leader of Neighbourhood Advice-Action Council [NAAC]
Volunteers (WeLoveU members) and people with disabilities communicated by making handicrafts together. It was a meaningful experience to realize everyone has unique strengths. They seemed fun and happy to cooperate with each other. I noticed genuine, sincere smiles on the volunteers’ faces —it was very special feeling.
WeLoveU members, thank you so much for your enthusiastic and active participation today.
Cheung Wai Hung, Team Leader of Neighbourhood Advice-Action Council [NAAC]
Fiona, WeLoveU Member
“I didn’t know how I interact or spend time with disabled people, but today’s cultural activity gave me the answers. I could know better about them. I’m also very grateful to the NAAC staff for their thoughtful efforts in creating such a good experience.”
Fiona, WeLoveU Member
Anita, WeLoveU Member
“I am so happy to be part of this event. I rarely have opportunities to engage with my disabled neighbours, but today I realised that they have no difference with me—ordinary people, talking and making crafts together. It was a valuable learning experience. I hope more people participate in these activities, so we can better understand and communicate with one another.”

Working Together for a Safe and Healthy Life
On August 10, around 60 members from WeLoveU gathered at the Hong Kong
Jockey Club [HKJC] Drug InfoCentre in the Queensway Government Offices.
The gathering marked the launch of the ‘Crime Prevention and Anti-Drug Campaign,’
conducted in partnership with the Narcotics Division Anti-Drug Volunteer Group of Hong Kong. The initiative seeks to foster a safer and healthier community for local residents.

The HKJC Drug InfoCentre, a government-operated educational facility,
is dedicated to raising public awareness about the dangers of drug use
and preventing substance abuse through active citizen participation.

At three in the afternoon, following an educational session on drug-related laws
and regulations at the centre, WeLoveU members began their full-scale campaign.
They handed out eco-bags filled with pamphlets outlining the dangers of drug use
and encouraged citizens to join the effort to prevent crime and combat drug abuse.

On this day, the Narcotics Division Anti-Drug Volunteer Group honored WeLoveU
with a certificate of appreciation in recognition of its invaluable cooperation
in the recent anti-drug campaign.
“Among the participants, there are middle and college students,
as well as both men and women.
I can feel a great sense of positive energy from everyone.
Let us come together and tackle drug abuse as a team.
It is crucial that we address this issue.”
Anti-Drug Volunteer Group Chairwoman Zoe TANG
“WeLoveU members really show strong unity and energy.
I look forward to more chances to work together in the future.”
Anti-Drug Volunteer Group Vice-Chairman Raymond Wong

As more young people are being exposed to drugs and substances at an earlier age,
the Hong Kong government is stepping up its efforts to educate the public
about these risks. WeLoveU will join this effort and cooperate with the government
to help create a safer and healthier community.
Please stay tuned for the upcoming activities
from the Hong Kong WeLoveU members!

2023 Happy New Year’s Day With Multicultural Families
We Are One Family in Love
The Intl. WeLoveU Foundation (hereinafter referred to as the WeLoveU), which has been caring for people around the world with the heart of a mother, held the event to look after multicultural families living nearby in the New Year. On January 18, the WeLoveU held the event, “2023 Happy New Year’s Day With Multicultural Families.” It is to share love with multicultural families, who must long for their hometown around the holiday season, and to comfort them who are experiencing many difficulties while living in a foreign country.
About 350 people attended the event at the WeLoveU’s Pangyo Chapter in Seongnam, Korea, including Chairwoman Zahng Gil-jah, board members, WeLoveU volunteers, multicultural families from 19 countries, and 158 foreigners living in Korea. Since the event was held onsite for the first time in three years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all the participants were even more excited and happy.

At 11 a.m., the first part of the event began with the welcoming ceremony. As the host introduced the countries where the participants came from, such as Mongolia, Vietnam, the Philippines, the United States, and Uzbekistan, the hall was filled with a round of applause. Chairwoman Zahng Gil-jah said, “My heart feels warm and happy to be able to hold this New Year’s Day event,” and comforted the multicultural families living in an unfamiliar country. “I wish you to forget the moments of loneliness and pain today, and have a great time as if you are in your home countries. Let’s get rid of prejudice and have a beautiful love for humanity.”
Afterwards, the WeLoveU’s holiday gifts were presented. Chairwoman Zahng Gil-jah held the hands of the multicultural families and delivered a gift set packed wity winter blankets, groceries, and heating bills. They came to Korea for different reasons and stories such as marriage, work, and refuge, and went through unimaginable difficulties. Thus, they were moved by her sincere encouragement.
The second and third parts of the event consisted of a banquet and a traditional Korean culture experience. The WeLoveU members prepared various holiday dishes for multicultural families, such as rice cake soup, japchae, bulgogi, and sanjeok. Through the banquet, the multicultural families experienced the generosity of Korean spirit during the holidays. They also played traditional Korean games such as yut-nori, jegi-chagi, and tuho, and had a good time by learning how to make Dalgona (Korean candy made with melted sugar and baking soda). Laughter and cheers were heard everywhere, and the event was full of excitement for the holidays.

The hanbok experience booth was very popular. Chairwoman Zahng Gil-jah visited the booth to help multicultural families dress in hanbok, and she explained about jeogori and magoja. Nizamul Haque Sheikh, who works at the Embassy of Bangladesh in Korea, said, “I’ve been in Korea for 16 years, but it’s my first time trying on a hanbok. I feel like I became Korean since I am wearing a hanbok. It feels good and comfortable.” The multicultural families wore colorful hanbok, smiled brightly, and took photos together. It made everyone realize that we are one family although everybody has different appearances and figures.

During the event, the multicultural families laughed and shed tears, being comforted and loved, and were also strengthened by sharing their hardships and sympathizing each other. Natalia, who came to Korea from Ukraine, said, “There are many foreigners here, and I’m comforted by meeting people in similar circumstances. I’m still worried about the rest of my family back home, but I hope everyone can cheer up with positive thoughts. I hope that not only people in Ukraine but also everybody suffering hardship in the world will stand firm in the New Year.”
Ariona from Mongolia said, “When I first came to Korea, I had a hard time because of people’s prejudice against foreigners and cultural differences. I think today’s event will help foreigners adjust to Korea. I hope there will be more events like this in the future.” Brittany Mercedes Mccrae, United States Forces Korea, expressed how moved she was and said, “I received so much care and love through this event, and gained strength to live the whole year.”

The WeLoveU members cheered for the multicultural families’ new year with one mind. The WeLoveU Director Kwon Hyeok-jin said, “This event shows that there is still love and warmth in society, and we are happy to be here together. Everything seems tough these days, but I wish you all a healthy and happy new year.” A member named Moon Hyeong-seo (Goyang), a volunteer, said, “Since I used to live in a foreign county for seven years, I understand the difficulties of multicultural families. I hope that they will remember today’s good memories for a long time and obtain courage to overcome all difficulties ”
