Happy Lunar New Year Holidays Together With Global Family 2025
Scholarship to International Students from Eight Countries & Essential Goods to 1,600 Underprivileged and Multicultural Families Across Korea
As the hopeful New Year of 2025 begins, the Intl. WeLoveU Foundation (hereinafter referred to as WeLoveU) launched its traditional initiative, “Happy Lunar New Year Holidays Together With Global Family 2025.” United by a shared commitment to extend a mother’s love to those in need, members nationwide participated in this meaningful effort. From January 20 to 23, they collaborated with local governments to donate daily necessities to 1,600 underprivileged and multicultural households across 62 regions. Each set of donations included 23 essential items, such as groceries like red pepper paste and glass noodles, as well as laundry and kitchen detergents.

On January 23, WeLoveU held the event “Happy Lunar New Year Holidays Together With Global Family 2025” at the WeLoveU Pangyo Chapter, Seongnam, Republic of Korea. The event aimed to ensure that no one is left behind during the holiday, inviting foreign residents in Korea to offer them comfort and love as they navigate life in a new land. The event welcomed around 300 attendees, including Chairwoman Zahng Gil-jah, board members, Korea Association for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect (KAPCAN) President Yi Bae-keun, and multicultural families and international students from 24 countries, including Nepal, Taiwan, Laos, Malaysia, Mongolia, the U.S., Ecuador, Uzbekistan, and Kenya. Diplomatic representatives such as Lao Ambassador to Korea H.E. Songkane Luangmuninthone, and Ecuadorian Deputy Head of Mission to Korea Orlin Madrid attended the event.
Chairwoman Zahng Gil-jah gave a welcoming address, saying, “New Year’s Day, a traditional Korean holiday, is a meaningful time for family and neighbors to gather and renew their resolutions for the New Year.” She expressed hope that the event would provide a warm and embracing experience. She added, “Each of you, with your diverse cultures and traditions, makes Korean society richer and more vibrant. I hope the new connections and experiences you gain here will become cherished memories, and I always support your growth.”

Lao Ambassador H.E. Songkan Luangmuninthone commended WeLoveU’s practical and multidirectional efforts, remarking, “This event goes beyond celebrating a Korean holiday—it strengthens global solidarity and love.” KAPCAN President Yi Bae-keun also expressed his appreciation, emphasizing the universal nature of maternal love, “Across cultures, a mother’s love symbolizes wisdom and courage. I deeply appreciate how this event shares that love, offering strength and encouragement to our global neighbors.”

Following this, a symbolic donation board was unveiled on stage, marking the support extended to 1,600 underprivileged and multicultural families. The event also featured a scholarship award ceremony for international students. With the goal of promoting the spirit of Korean holidays—sharing and compassion—while fostering the academic growth of future global leaders, WeLoveU provided a total of KRW 48 million (approx. USD 32,650) in educational support to 24 students from eight countries. Chairwoman Zahng Gil-jah presented scholarship certificates to international students from Vietnam, Honduras, and Angola, and other nations, offering encouragement and heartfelt handshakes one by one.

Afterward, the event continued with a warm banquet and various Korean cultural experiences, carefully prepared by WeLoveU members. Festive dishes, including tteokguk (rice cake soup), galbi (grilled short ribs), japchae (stir-fried glass noodles), and sanjeok (skewered meat and vegetables) were served. Participants enjoyed a warm meal together, engaging in friendly conversations. They then joined in various experience booths, such as tteokmechigi (making rice cakes), making kites, Jegichagi (Korean shuttlecock kicking), and Yutnori (a traditional board game). The hanbok experience zone was a favorite among attendees, as foreign guests selected and donned traditional Korean attire, capturing memorable moments in photos and videos. Laughter and the rhythmic sounds of rice cake pounding filled the venue, enhancing the festive atmosphere.

Mikov Abdelaziz, who has lived abroad for a long time since leaving his home in Morocco, said, “Having studied and worked in various countries for many years, I often felt that it was difficult to integrate into society as a foreigner due to language, cultural, and traditional differences. In this regard, I truly respect WeLoveU’s dedication to supporting foreigners and, above all, its commitment to embracing everyone with unconditional love.” Batsukh Javkhlan, a Mongolian resident of Korea for 24 years, said, “Living far from home, I sometimes feel homesick, and language and cultural differences can lead to misunderstandings. Opportunities like this event, which introduce Korean culture and foster mutual understanding, can greatly reduce difficulties and conflicts.”

Lim Hyo-jeong, a WeLoveU volunteer from Seoul, said, “Although we all come from different backgrounds, we feel that we can become one through the universal theme of a mother’s love. I hope that everyone here today forgets loneliness, embraces the warmth of home, and starts the New Year with renewed energy.” Julissa Castro from Honduras (Ewha Womans University Graduate School) expressed her aspiration, “Thank you for the scholarship support. As a sociology student focusing on cultural exchange, I look forward to participating in WeLoveU’s various volunteer initiatives that contribute to social development and harmony.”

Foreign diplomats present at the event took the opportunity to encourage their country’s students while expressing gratitude for WeLoveU’s efforts. Orlin Madrid, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Ecuadorian Embassy in Korea, said, “It was great to meet Ecuadorian students here today. I sincerely appreciate WeLoveU’s generosity, and hope to see more events like this in the future.”
WeLoveU’s efforts to foster global solidarity and spread warmth
will continue throughout the New Year.
22nd New Life Concert
Choir of Global Families for a Hopeful Tomorrow
It was the afternoon of November 17, and a chilly wind heralded the arrival of winter. Despite the chill, citizens with excited faces hurried toward a concert hall. Before long, the venue was brimming with over 10,000 people, and the atmosphere grew warm and lively, reminiscent of a spring day.

The 22nd New Life Concert, hosted by the Intl. WeLoveU Foundation and sponsored by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, the Seoul Metropolitan Government, the Korea NPO Solidarity for the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, the Korea Association for Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect, and Incheon Sejong Hospital, took place at the Exhibition Hall on the first floor of Songdo Convensia in Songdo International City, Incheon. This concert aimed to support climate disaster victims and underprivileged neighbors. The event was attended by WeLoveU Chairwoman Zahng Gil-jah, board members, over 13,000 members, and citizens. Joining them were family members of diplomats from six countries, including Peru, Ecuador, and Nepal, along with prominent figures from the political, business, cultural, artistic, and educational sectors, all united in support of WeLoveU’s “Love Neighbors” initiative.

The first part of the donation ceremony began with an opening address by Chairwoman Zahng Gil-jah. She opened by stating, “The season when warmth is needed most has arrived. In a world where large-scale disasters from floods, earthquakes, heat waves, and wildfires make it difficult to envision a hopeful future, it is natural to bring hope and courage to our neighbors in need.” Chairwoman Zahng expressed her wish for those facing hardships to rebuild their daily lives and look forward to a brighter tomorrow. She also conveyed her heartfelt gratitude to the organizations and institutions that sponsored the event.
The Peruvian Ambassador to Korea, H.E. Paul Fernando Duclos Parodi, delivered a congratulatory speech, stating, “The New Life Concert is a great opportunity to show that music is a precious tool that connects humanity. I would like to pay tribute to WeLoveU’s social efforts around the world.” He also expressed hope for the friendship between Peru and WeLoveU to pave the way for a bright future. Ecuadorian Ambassador to Korea, H.E. Patricio Esteban Troya Suárez, commended the initiative, saying, “I thank WeLoveU for helping the victims of the wildfires in Ecuador. WeLoveU’s support plays a vital role in the recovery of the victims’ families and serves as a powerful example of the spirit of international cooperation and humanitarianism.

In the next segment, the donation plaque symbolizing the pledged funds was presented, followed by a video aimed at raising awareness about climate disasters. During this concert, WeLoveU extended support to countries affected by massive wildfires, including Peru, Brazil, Paraguay, Ecuador, and Bolivia, as well as to Nepal, Bangladesh, and Thailand, which suffered from devastating floods caused by record heavy rainfall. Additionally, WeLoveU provided aid to a Mongolian family living in Korea, 100 underprivileged households in Korea (60 in Seoul and 40 in Incheon), and group homes for abused children. The total donations, both domestic and international, amounted to 290,000 USD.
The second part of the concert opened with a lively performance by the New Life Children’s Choir, dressed in traditional costumes from around the world. Following their act, singers Yang Su-gyeong, Kim Jong-hwan, Lia Kim, and Kim Seong-hwan took the stage one after another, performing heartfelt songs about love, family, and the meaning of life, earning enthusiastic cheers from the audience. The concert featured a diverse array of genres, including performances by sopranos Kang Min-seong and Jeong Chan-hee, and the popera group La Classe. Canzones, arias, and beloved Korean popular songs, accompanied by a magnificent orchestral performance, captivated and moved the crowd. The excitement in the hall grew into a wave of fervor, as audience members waved their cell phone flashlights, turning the exhibition hall into a sea of glittering lights.

The performers, who willingly donated their talents, shared how deeply moved they were to deliver messages of love and hope to the global audience, united with the enthusiastic crowd. Singer Yang Su-gyeong, participating in the New Life Concert for the first time, remarked, “Today’s stage was the most beautiful I’ve ever been on. Seeing people who are doing good for others enjoying themselves made me happy too.” Singer Kim Jong-hwan, a long-time participant alongside his daughter Lia Kim, shared, “I’m grateful to deliver warmth to neighbors in need through this event. Personally, I love this concert so much that I wish it could be held every three months instead of once a year.” Lia Kim added, “Whenever I come to the New Life Concert, I sing with great joy. The enthusiastic response from WeLoveU members gives me strength. They are good neighbors who support those in need, and I take the stage each time, inspired to be like them.” Soprano Jeong Chan-hee expressed, “What made this experience most meaningful was being able to comfort and empower those who are leading such valuable work.” Baritone Oh Yoo-seok of the popera group La Classe emphasized the significance of sharing and volunteerism: “It’s not easy to put one’s heart into action, so it’s incredibly special to see so many people come together to spread love. I’m truly grateful for that. I hope everyone who attends this concert sings and finds happiness together.”

The diplomats who attended the New Life Concert expressed their sympathy and support for WeLoveU’s global humanitarian efforts. The Charge d’Affaires at the Nepali Embassy, Pushpa Raj Bhattarai, expressed his gratitude, stating, “WeLoveU is helping the victims of this year’s floods, as well as those affected by the 2015 earthquakes in Nepal.” The Sri Lankan Counselor, Udayanga Pieris, remarked, “Disasters are unavoidable, and we need solutions to address the situation and comfort those affected. In that regard, WeLoveU’s concert, which unites people through the powerful force of music and moves them toward a common goal, is truly remarkable.”

Park Sang-hyeon, from Seoul, who was invited by his university classmate, shared, “I’ve worked in the musical scene, so I understand how difficult it is to organize a charity concert and coordinate with experts from various fields. I was surprised that everything was carried out so smoothly, thanks to everyone’s warm-hearted efforts. The performance itself was fantastic, but the purpose behind it was even more meaningful.” Choi Yeong-ok, also from Seoul and a frequent attendee of the concert, said, “This was my first time experiencing the orchestra performance at the New Life Concert. I was deeply moved by the high-quality classical music, and I felt proud to be able to help neighbors on the other side of the world as a WeLoveU member.”

After the concert ended, the faces of the audience were filled with cherished memories. The WeLoveU members moved forward into a new tomorrow, determined to continue sharing this warmth with their neighbors, even as the winter approaches.
We Support the Happy Lives of Our Neighbors
Brazil, where the economy has yet to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic,
is witnessing vulnerable groups struggle to secure
even essential food items amid soaring inflation.
WeLoveU has teamed up with the Manaus Prefecture and City Council
to donate food packages to those in need within the community.
The recipients were selected with the help of the Amazonas Family
Support Association (IAFAM), a local welfare organization.

Members prepared 325 gift sets containing essential food items
such as rice, beans, cooking oil, sugar, salt, and spaghetti.
On August 25, the gifts were distributed to neighbors
at the local public school auditorium.

The neighbors expressed their heartfelt gratitude with great joy.
Seeing their happiness, the members felt a deep sense of fulfillment.

WeLoveU will continue to support neighbors in need
and share warmth and love.
Supporting the Independence of Neighbors With Disabilities
The Program Pemulihan Dalam Komuniti Nusajaya (Nusajaya Community
Rehabilitation Program), located in Iskandar Puteri (formerly known
as Nusajaya), Johor, Malaysia, has a bustling front yard today.
WeLoveU members are gathered, preparing for a special event:
the donation ceremony of essential items to support the Program.

This Rehabilitation Program provides care and assistance to people with
disabilities, yet it faces numerous operational challenges due to insufficient
government support. The Program, which primarily serves children and
teenagers, lacks essential educational equipment such as desks and chairs,
along with basic home appliances like a television and a freezer.
WeLoveU learned about the situation through the Iskandar Puteri City Council
and decided to support the Program by cooperating with the city council
and a charitable foundation associated with it.

On July 17, a donation ceremony was held with the attendance
of the city council deputy chairman, officials, the Program staff, and
WeLoveU members. They warmly greeted one another, expressing their delight
in the meaningful assistance brought about by this beautiful partnership.
On that day, WeLoveU donated a smart TV for educational purposes,
a freezer, and desks and chairs for all the students of the Program.

The city council and the charitable foundation also donated 2,400 ringgit
(approx. 560 USD) worth of groceries and contribution of 2,000 ringgit
(approx. 466 USD) each to the Program.

The city council chairman of Iskandar Puteri expressed his gratitude
to WeLoveU through the deputy chairman.
“I would like to express my gratitude to Chairwoman Zahng Gil-jah for her generous donation to the Nusajaya Community Rehabilitation Program. I am very happy to be able to assist the Program. Our city council is doing its utmost to achieve the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. Through today’s support, we were able to progress towards achieving the goals of ‘Good Health and Well-Being’ and ‘Quality Education,’ while also strengthening the relationship between the city and its residents. I hope that today’s event will be a great help to the teachers, students, and parents of the Community Rehabilitation Program.”

The teachers and students expressed their gratitude
by performing a small, heartwarming performance they had prepared.
The members also joined them on stage, singing the “We Love You Song,” and everyone in attendance joyfully responded with the phrase, “We love you!”

After the ceremony, the members toured the facilities with the guidance of the
Program’s director and teachers, spending meaningful time with the students.

Umi Selamah binti Embong, Teacher at Community Rehabilitation Program
“WeLoveU’s donation has helped improve our facility. It is an honor for all of you to come here, and I’m happy to know about WeLoveU. Not only did you donate essential items, but you also took the time to interact with our students, which brought us great joy. The donated TV will be used for classes and teachers’ meetings. We no longer need to rent chairs for large events held at our facility. You have given us exactly what we needed. Thank you very much.”
